ABOUT THE CARNIVAL

The Hobart Veterans Carnival is a badminton tournament for those aged 35 and over.

Entry is as an individual and you will be placed into a team for the weekend. 

Each person will play 12 – 15 games over the weekend, with a mix of doubles and mixed doubles.

This year, we are accepting single day entries, and we will match up players across the teams over the weekend.

Please note, those entering for the whole weekend will be given preference when grading teams.

If you are available to be a fill in at short notice (regardless of age), please contact Alieta at the above email address, giving name, contact information and approximate grading.

 

Conditions of entry and play:

  1. Entry is as an individual and the Organising Committee will arrange the entrants into teams.
  2. Playing fee is $50.00 for the whole weekend, or if only playing one day the fee is $30 for Saturday and $20 for      Sunday.
  3. Payment can be made by cash on the day or electronically* to Hobart Veterans Badminton Association BSB 067-002  A/C 28036437.  *Please enter your name as the reference.
  4. Entries submitted late will not be guaranteed placement in a team.
  5. Players should be aged 35 or over on the date of the Carnival.
  6. Single day entries will be accepted, but preference for grading will be given to those playing the whole weekend.
  7. Players may share a position with another player of similar ability. Please include the name of the person you are  sharing with on the entry form.
  8. Players should be dressed in suitable badminton attire.
  9. Matches will consist of Doubles and Mixed Doubles only. The number and format of games will be decided by the  Committee depending on the number of entries.
  10. Games will be two sets to 21, no setting.
  11. In the event that a player withdraws from the competition, the playing fee will be refunded only if at least 72 hours’ notice is given to the Organising Committee.
  12. Entries close on Sunday 18 May 2025
  13. Entry into the Carnival is consent to have your photo used on the Badminton Hobart website.  If you do not want your photo used, please advise us at the time of entry.
